So, the school year is again fast approaching. New classes, new friends, new President. Just thought that I would start a thread about the upcoming semester: partially because I'm bored, and partially because I'm curious if people are still following this community. So, what are you all up to, what are you expecting from the semester ahead? Where are you living, what new activities will you be doing or old activities are you excited to return to?

And, to include the community members who are out in the 'real world'...any news you've heard of SMU or news you'd like to know about? Share, share, share...

Anyway. Personally, I will be starting the Master of Arts in Instruction in the fall and living in Watters Hall. Luckily, I will be exempt from a meal plan with the ever-mediocre Chartwells, so I will be doing a substantial amount of my own cooking. I will be returning to the common restroom/showers life of residence halls, but it is a 2-rooms for 1 person situation, so that should be cool. We'll see how it works being on the ground floor, between the Old Village Parking lot and Hwy 14. The Master's Program itself should be nice. I have fewer credits than during my undergraduate degree, but the work load will probably be significantly higher, so it will be rather even. I'm slightly down because I won't be singing with the campus ensembles this year, and I will certainly miss it. However, I will be and advisor for Sigma Alpha Iota, so I'll stay active with the Kappa Sigma Chapter. I start observing at local schools in October, but even so, I imagine I'll still be posting. Alright, so that's me.

Oh, and crazy enough, if you're interested: local American Idol auditions are being held either Tuesday or Thursday of the first week, 4 PM, right on our lovely campus.

Good luck packing, happy travels and smooth moving to everyone heading back to SMU!

Hmm…my first sophomore semester. Fulfilling lots of gen ed credits – Bio, lab, history of the bible, human services credit (what IS that for, anyway?) and of course Perspectives. I hope I can finalize building my own major to get ready for my own Master’s, which I hope to get at Northwestern, so I might be going to Winona State for some classes. Otherwise I hear captain’s practices are starting early…so much for my easy fall. It’s going to be a good year, overall.

American Idol, you say? Huzzah, I can try out my Simon persona again!

I have a 7:45 Monday, Wednesday, Friday.

Mind you, the class is Intro to Biblical Hebrew. :-P

I've spent the summer here on campus, working for the SMU Maintenance Department (lawnmowers and weedwhackers, wut wut!), and I'll be the first to say that Brother Craig is a fabulous person. He's very approachable, very friendly, all around a very positive person.

I think that's all I've got for now... wish me luck with Hebrew, all!
